Florian Ughetto and Liz Nunez will be the first couple in the UAE to marry in the metaverse later this week, making history. Decentraland will host the ceremony, which will be attended by the couple’s close family and friends.

What is the Metaverse

The online metaverse was announced by Mark Zuckerberg as the next step in social networks. In ways we can’t even imagine, 3D places will allow you to socialize, learn, work, cooperate, and create your own unique avatars.

Metaverse is here to bring virtual reality and true human connections together, as the majority of us spend the majority of our time online. It’s the idea of a centralized virtual world, a “place” that exists alongside the real one.

UAE’s first Metaverse couples

Florian and Liz are the founders of Easy Wedding; a Dubai based wedding start up company that recently raised over $100,000 dollars. Both have been residents of the Middle East and working there for many years when they both met and fell in love.

Florian is from France while Liz, his partner and co-founder is from Paraguay. When they decided to get married they hoped to fly in their friends and family from both countries.

However belonging to different nationalities, and due to Covid the couple who got lawfully married in Georgia in 2019. The couple had a lot of legal complications when trying to get their marriage recorded.

“That is one of the reasons we chose to register our marriage in Georgia,”

First UAE wedding in the Metaverse

Florian and his bride Liz will walk down the aisle in their own private plot on Decentraland, dressed in a snazzy, tailored black and brown suit and a stunning white dress acquired for around $100 on the largest NFT marketplace Open Sea.

They’ll be joined in the metaverse by 20 of their closest friends and family, who will join them from the comfort of their own homes. The best man and maid of honor will give speeches after they exchange vows. The tiny group will then travel to an unknown area within the metaverse to party all night.
